Please include your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, the type of server you connect to (macOS, Windows or Linux and the VNC server name) and what you expected to happen. Do not send passwords or private keys.
Connecting to a Mac
Turn on Screen Sharing or Remote Management in System Settings › General › Sharing, then add the Mac in Lonview using its name or IP address. Apple Remote Desktop and VNC passwords are supported.
Connecting to Windows or Linux
Install a standard VNC server such as TigerVNC, x11vnc, TightVNC or UltraVNC. Lonview connects to standard VNC, not Windows Remote Desktop (RDP).
Securing your connection
Classic VNC passwords do not encrypt the screen. On untrusted networks use a VPN, a TLS-enabled VNC server, or an SSH tunnel: save the connection, turn on Use SSH tunnel, and verify the SSH server key fingerprint the first time.
Keyboard and mouse
On iPad a hardware keyboard sends arrows, function keys, Ctrl, Alt and Command shortcuts. Shortcuts that iPadOS keeps for itself (Command+Tab, Command+Space) and the Windows key are in the System shortcuts menu.
Local network permission
Lonview asks for local network access to find computers on your Wi-Fi and to connect to servers on your network. If you declined it, turn it on in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.
Not supported
RDP, RealVNC proprietary and cloud sessions, SASL/Kerberos, RSA-only SSH servers and file transfer (SFTP) are not available in this version.
